Mount Cameroon is one of Cameroon’s highlights and has breathtaking landscapes and is an absolute must if you love hiking. Mount Cameroon rises up to 4,040 meters and is an active volcano and definitely one of Africa’s most beautiful mountains. During your trip you will be treated to fantastic views, but also have the chance to meet Cameroon’s people such as the traditional Bororo shepherds.

Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Arrival in Douala

Arrival in Douala, Cameroon and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Day 2: Douala → Buea → Mount Cameroon

After breakfast, explore Douala before driving to Buea, nestled at the base of Mount Cameroon. Visit Buea, the capital of the Southwest Region, and complete registration and formalities at the Mount Cameroon Touristic Site office.In the afternoon, begin your ascent of Mount Cameroon, trekking to the first refuge at approximately 2,000 meters. Overnight in tents with dinner under the stars.

Day 3: Mount Cameroon Summit Day

Continue the trek to the second refuge at around 3,000 meters, where the terrain becomes more open and grassy slopes give way to volcanic landscapes. Push onward to reach the summit at 4,040 meters, rewarding you with fanatic panoramic views. Descend back to the second refuge for overnight in tents.

Day 4: Mount Cameroon → Limbe

After breakfast, descend the mountain to complete your Mount Cameroon adventure. Drive to Limbe, stopping en route to visit the scenic Tole tea plantations. Check into your hotel. 

After lunch, head to Bimbia to explore the poignant remnants of the historic slave trade sit, structures that remain visible even after more than a century. Return to Limbe for a relaxing beachside dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Limbe → Ekom Nkam → Melong

Start the day with a beach stroll, then drive toward Melong, passing through expansive plantations of bananas, rubber trees, oil palms, coffee, and cocoa, showcasing Cameroon's rich agricultural heritage. En route, stop to admire the spectacular Ekom Nkam Waterfalls, plunging an impressive 80 meters in a dramatic jungle setting. Check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Melong → Manengouba Mountains

After breakfast, hike to the summit of the Manengouba Mountains at approximately 2,400–2,600 meters. Discover the enchanting twin crater lakes (known as the "Male" and "Female" lakes), surrounded by volcanic beauty and serene highland scenery. Enjoy a picnic by the lakes before descending in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Melong.

Day 7: Melong → Douala

Drive back to Douala, with a visit to the local handicraft center to browse unique souvenirs. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
